Mathematics Tutoring

We teach mathematics as one disciplined subject — clear definitions, honest algebra, and structured problem-solving — then carry that spine into the syllabus your school marks: IB Diploma, A-Level, US college-preparatory mathematics, IBMYP, Spanish ESO and Bachillerato. Sessions are in English, with in-person tuition in Barcelona and online worldwide.

This page is the multi-curricula overview: how we adapt tone, pace, and exam language when the governing framework changes. For IB Diploma Mathematics — papers, tiers, formula booklet, and the Internal Assessment — the dedicated programme page is the right next step once you know DP is your route: IB Mathematics tutor (Barcelona & online).

Diploma Programme

IB Diploma Mathematics

The IB Diploma slice on this hub is intentionally short: families often land here first when they are still comparing systems. In practice, once we know you are on DP, the work is specific — Analysis & Approaches or Applications & Interpretation, Standard or Higher Level — with different balances of pure mathematics, modelling, and written investigation. The long-form syllabus map, past-paper rotation, formula booklet discipline, and IA staging all sit on our dedicated IB Mathematics programme page, where we keep the detail parents and students expect from a diploma specialist.

In lessons, HL work earns the sustained multi-mark reasoning examiners reward under time pressure — including Paper 3 where your course prescribes it (for example AA HL) — while SL work earns accuracy and pacing on the terminal papers for your tier. The Internal Assessment is drafted in stages so it reads as serious mathematics with a defensible structure — not a narrative bolted on at the deadline.

UK & aligned schools

A-Level & Further Mathematics

A-Level is board-led in a way generic marketing rarely admits. We build from your live specification and recent papers for Edexcel, OCR, AQA, CAIE, and other UK-aligned routes — pure mathematics, mechanics, and statistics in the proportions your papers actually award. Algebraic fluency and “show that” reasoning stay central, because that is where marks concentrate once coverage is no longer the bottleneck.

Further Mathematics students get a faster tempo, tighter option boundaries (we stay inside what your FM tables permit), and rehearsal for long questions written to the mark scheme — the combination that keeps FM from becoming a parallel universe to your single-maths load. A dedicated A-Level mathematics page may accompany this hub as we publish more board-specific guides; tutoring is already scoped line by line from your specification.

American & international schools

US school mathematics

US-track mathematics is rarely one tidy spine with one finish line. Your child might follow Algebra 1 → Geometry → Algebra 2 → Precalculus, an integrated sequence, or honours and double-up variants — often after a mid-year move between schools or countries. We start from a single diagnostic map of strengths and holes, then run weekly lessons that respect your school's pacing chart while closing the gaps that are quietly costing marks.

In-school mathematics and admissions tests sit on different calendars in our planning. When you also need a programme with its own mark scheme, we point you to the right page: AP Calculus AB & BC for in-school AP calculus, and Digital SAT when the whole admissions test (Reading, Writing & Math) is the objective — so in-school averages are not pulled sideways by admissions-only coaching.

A dedicated US school-mathematics page may follow as we publish more transcript-shaped guidance; intake and pacing are set in consultation from your outline and grade placement.

IBMYP

MYP Mathematics

MYP Mathematics is often where students first meet criterion language, investigation prompts, and on-screen grids that feel unlike traditional chapter books. We align to the objectives your school publishes — numerical reasoning, algebra, geometry and trigonometry, statistics and probability — and rehearse the habits DP will later assume are already automatic, whether your Years 1–5 line up with local Grades 6–10 labels or a compressed timetable.

Sessions foreground command terms, evidence, and reflection without turning support into a compliance exercise: the point is durable mathematical judgement before HL or SL choices arrive. Families see what was practised, which criteria were in play, and what “strong” looks like on your school's own tasks.

A dedicated MYP page may join this hub as we expand MYP-specific parent guides; this section is the working summary of how tutoring adapts when MYP governs the framework.

Overview

How we work by school stage (Grades 6–12)

Grades 6–8: We secure numeracy, proportional reasoning, early algebra, and spatial sense so the jump to abstract symbols in later years is a step, not a shock — whatever logo is on the cover of the textbook.

Grades 9–10: Structured questions, mark-scheme language, and time discipline arrive before the stakes peak — whether the route is MYP, pre-DP, or another upper-middle programme — so the first high-stakes year is not the first time a student sees an exam paper.

Grades 11–12 / Year 12–13: Full exam programmes where your board requires them — DP, A-Level, Bachillerato 2 — with IA or equivalent project work staged early enough to breathe; parents receive a visible weekly pace and the next pressure points.

For enrichment beyond school pace, see the Math Excellence Track.

Spanish state & concertado schools

Spanish school mathematics

ESO 1–4(Educación Secundaria Obligatoria): we follow the mathematics programme for each year — number, algebra, geometry, functions, and statistics — in step with your teacher's scheme of work. Delivery is in English while respecting Spanish sequencing, notation where it differs, and the weight your centro gives each strand.

Bachillerato 1 and 2: we support the mathematics load for your modalidad, including sciences and technology paths where the demand is highest, and we add past-paper-style practice when your centre uses external exams or university-entrance preparation (EvAU / EBAU patterns where relevant) — without confusing family communication with school Spanish.

A dedicated Spanish-school mathematics page may join this hub as we publish more modalidad-specific guides; tutoring is already aligned to your teacher's scheme of work and your year's assessment calendar.

Who this suits

Students who are behind, anxious, or uneven in mathematics — and families who want a plan written in the language of their board, not a pile of generic worksheets that ignore the mark scheme.

How sessions run

A short diagnostic, weekly structure with deliberate retrieval, error-pattern logging after timed sets, and plain-language parent updates. In-person in Barcelona or online worldwide — same standards, same note-taking discipline.
